The Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa was a sought-after route for international businesspeople aiming to establish a new business or take over an existing one in the UK. While the category closed to new applicants on 29 March 2019, those already on this route were allowed to extend their stay or apply for settlement.
The final date to apply for settlement as a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) migrant is 6th April 2025. Any applications submitted after this date will be refused, regardless of whether your leave to remain expires before or after this deadline.
Interestingly, for those who held Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) before switching into Tier 1 (Entrepreneur), they can submit applications to settle until 6th July 2027.
If you are unsure about your eligibility for settlement under this route, or if you do not qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), our experienced immigration team at Queensbury can guide you through your options. We can help you explore alternative visa categories, such as the Skilled Worker visa, which remains unaffected by the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) settlement deadline. Applications to switch visa categories can be made either before or after 6 April 2025.
